Places to Ride
Kipu Ranch Ride

For years John Fischer wanted to explore the area of Kauai between Lihue and Poipu that is marked by the majestic Ha'upu Mountain Range. Kipu Ranch is a 3,000 acre working cattle ranch located in the historic Kipu area of Kauai and it is mostly private property with little public access by road. It has been a favorite spot for Hollywood. Numerous motion pictures have been filmed on the ranch's land including Diamond Head and the Hawaiians both starring Charlton Heston, Islands In The Stream, The Lost World (the sequel to Jurassic Park), Outbreak and Mighty Joe Young.
So, when John learned that Kipu Ranch Adventures offers daily tours of the portion of this area owned by the ranch, he jumped on the opportunity, as these tours are the only way to explore the ranch since the land has no public access roads.
Read how John Fischer, who had never been on an ATV in his life, learned to handle the 2 passenger 660cc Yamaha Rhino in the rocky, hilly and muddy paths. Look through his fascinating pictures and check out his two tours reviews on Gohawaii About.com.
Places to Ride: Moses Lake Sand Dunes, Washington State

The sand dunes at Moses Lake may not be the most glamorous place to ride in the Pacific Northwest, but they do have their advantages. The first time I rode here was in the late 80’s. I was in town with a business associate, and he had brought his motorcycles, a large bore Husky and his street legal Honda 175. Guess which machine I was privileged to ride? Well, I survived and about 10 years later when my children were old enough to ride and were on spring break with nothing planned, the Moses Lake Dunes came to mind. We borrowed some ATVs from some friends, took an RV, and camped right on the sand. Everyone had a good time, and we have been going back a couple times a year ever since. Now, what the Moses Lake Sand Dunes lack in glamour they make up for in comfort and convenience.
