when do i need to change the belt?
i have almost 3000 miles on my 08. How long are you guys getting out of an original belt? Are there any other things i should check on it with this kind of milage?

Change the belt but keep it for a spare and while you are replacing the belt, you should look for worn sheaves and dirt build up in the primary sheave.
In the sheave there are rails where the cam plate rides, these will wear down, especially if theres has been no grease for a while. Check the roller covers for flat spots and cracks. 3000 is not alot to ask out of a belt depending on the use of course.
