Chula Vista Police Department Utilizes Yamaha Rhinos to Patrol Harbor Area

The Chula Vista Police Department had a special need to patrol areas near the harbor and Cricket Amphitheater with a vehicle that was smaller and more nimble than a normal police car. Their search led them to choose the Yamaha Rhino.
Now a stock Rhino just wouldn’t do for service in the Chula Vista PD, so they looked into equipping two for their specific needs. After some rearch, they chose Black Rhino Performance.
Black Rhino Performance has been in the business of customizing UTVs for several years, and they not only use their own products, but also other products from quality manufacturers like Simpson, Maier, DWT and Baja Designs.
The two 2009 Yamaha Rhino SE’s have already seen service at the Cricket Amphitheater (Google Maps) to patrol the Toby Keith/Trace Adkins concert. Patrolling the parking lot before concerts is much easier in the Rhinos. The ability to get through tight areas and also feel like they are part of their surrounding make the Rhino a big asset.
The crew over at Black Rhino Performance really took these Rhino’s to the next level. Here is a list of products that they added to make these machines ready to Work:
Maier black plastics
DWT Rattlesnake black wheels – 12×7 Widetrack (2+5 offset)
Black Rhino Locking Security Glove Boxes
Black Rhino ECU & EFI Controllers
Black Rhino Deluxe Front Bumper
Baja Designs Fuego 4″ Driving HIDs
Baja Designs Fuego A-Pillar Mounts
PIAA 1500 Series Backup (1 each)
4+3 Circuit Fuse Blocks
4 Contour switches with mounting panels
Black Rhino Harness Bars
Simpson 2×2 Latch & Link Padded harnesses
